This Linux server distro-package was very easy to setup, and works like a charm. Exactly what we needed We really like the browser support for setting up users, priviledges and shared folders. As we have about 5-6 local machines running windows xp (I now know it's a sin ;-) this setup is easy and very manageble. I used an older AMD 64 machine, with 2 identical 200GB harddisks installed, to take advantage of the RAID 1 setup during installation. Very nice... and with backup feature via the browser to another pc. Was at first a bit skeptical, since the distro seems "less popular" than f.ex. ubuntu and openSUSE, yet after trying to go with the ubuntu server (althought great info on the site here) this setup is 110% more straight forward, for a NOB like me and my fellow co-workers. Also, it should handle VPN and email, although we don't need this for now. But it looks overall like a very simple and solid solution for us. Imagine... we almost said yes to a local vendor to accept a windows SBS 2003 solution, inkl. a new server, that would have cost us well over $ 5.000,- (inkl. windows upgrade). But SME server seems like just the right alternative for us... a small/mid sized company. We send a donation right away, and may consider the support available later on. Cheers.
