Quick And Easy Setup For DomainKeys Using Ubuntu, Postfix And Dkim-Filter

This is a quick tutorial for setting up DomainKeys on Ubuntu (I used
6.06LTS - but should work the same on others) using dkim-filter with
Postfix so emails from your domain will not constantly end up in
Yahoo's spam filter.

Talking SOAP With Exchange

Talking SOAP With Exchange

Previously, talking to Exchange without using Microsoft products was
pretty much out of the question. The binary MAPI protocol is
proprietary and poorly documented. Exchange supports IMAP and POP, but
these protocols only give acesss to emails, not the calendar, address
book, todo lists etc. But beginning with version 2007, Exchange now
ships with a SOAP interface called Exchange Web Services, or EWS. This
interface gives us access to the functions necessary to write clients
in any programming language on any platform. This article describes a PHP program to look up, delete and insert items in an Exchange calendar.

Virtual Users And Domains With Postfix, Courier, MySQL And SquirrelMail (Ubuntu 8.10)

Virtual Users And Domains With Postfix, Courier, MySQL And SquirrelMail (Ubuntu 8.10)

This document describes how to install a mail server based on
Postfix that is based on virtual users and domains, i.e. users and
domains that are in a MySQL database. I'll also demonstrate the
installation and configuration of Courier (Courier-POP3, Courier-IMAP),
so that Courier can authenticate against the same MySQL database
Postfix uses. The resulting Postfix server is capable of SMTP-AUTH and TLS and quota (quota is not built into Postfix by default, I'll show how to patch your Postfix appropriately). Passwords are stored in encrypted
form in the database (most documents I found were dealing with plain
text passwords which is a security risk). In addition to that, this
tutorial covers the installation of Amavisd, SpamAssassin and ClamAV so that emails will be scanned for spam and viruses. I will also show how to install SquirrelMail as a webmail interface so that users can read and send emails and change their passwords.

This short mini-howto will help you set up automatic cleaning of Trash- and Junkfolders. Most (web)mail clients (can) automatically create these. A lot of people don't clean there maildirectories causing Junk and Trash folders to grow massively in size and with ISPConfig (not yet) being able to set good maildirectory size limits the alternative is to have these folders cleaned after several days.

Postfix Virtual Hosting With LDAP Backend With Dovecot As IMAP/POP3 Server On Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 TLS

Postfix Virtual Hosting With LDAP Backend With Dovecot As IMAP/POP3 Server On Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 TLS

I've been running with a MySQL backend for virtual hosting for some time, but when I discovered Phamm and the added FTP feature (amongst others) I decided to switch to LDAP as backend for Postfix with virtual hosting. In view of the fact that the installation and configuration guide of
Phamm is lacking some basic information it took me quite some time
(including crying, swearing, getting depressed, ...) to put it all
together and get it working. Long live google
to find hints or explanations for problems and configuration issues.
Piecing it all together wasn't simple so I would like to share how I
configured it and got it all working toghether (as I like), but I think
that it will benefit other users as well.

on Centos 5 using Postfix, Dovecot, RoundCube, Virtual Users/Domain and

Exim Authenticated Smarthost

Exim Authenticated Smarthost

Today's ISP environment requires authenticated SMTP to be able to
send emails. As a policy, authenticated SMTP helps cut down on folks
sending SPAM and allows the ISP to track which account is sending what
type of email content for further demographic study. While
authenticated SMTP is good for the ISP, it is not a configuration
supported out of the box by most Linux distributions. This means that all those system emails and log reports emailed by root never make it anywhere anymore.
